The Town and Castle of Telč
Travel time: 1 hour 19 minutes
The Castle of Telč is one of the jewels amongst the objects of Moravian renaissance architecture. Since 1992, the castle as well as the historic center of the town of Telč is on the UNESCO List of World Cultural Heritage Sites.
The Castle of Telč has one of the exceptionally well-preserved interiors and most representative examples of Italian arts in Bohemia. In the 16th century, Zachariáš of Hradec had this formerly Gothic castle converted – under the influence of Italian masters – into a Renaissance place. Renaissance Telč is also known as the site where a number of Czech fairytales was filmed – without a doubt, the best known among them is Pyšná princezna.
